In collaboration with the ARMY of CARABINIERI and ALFA ROMEO MUSEUM
With a contribution by GUIDO CROSETTO, Italian Minister of Defense
Original photographies by Alessandro Barteletti and Paolo Carlini
To celebrate the long and historic partnership – which began immediately after the war and continues to this day – between the Carabinieri and Alfa Romeo is a photographic book of particular elegance, born in close collaboration with the Carabinieri itself. The focus is made up of a limited list of cars which embodied an era precisely in the livery of the Army: “Matta” AR 51, Giulia, Alfetta, Alfa 90, 75, 156, 159, Giulietta, “Nuova” Giulia, Tonale and Stelvio, are the protagonists of as many photographic sets set up both at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese (which also provided precious materials for this book archive) and in Rome, where the various cars were photographed in some of the most evocative corners of the capital. A further service set up on the Aprilia track “Bridgestone European Proving Ground” allowed the latest Giulia to be brought onto the track.
Underlying the photographic fabric, however, is also the history of the country and of the Army, divided and retraced in six sections that start from the days of reconstruction, passing from the glories of the “economic miracle”, to the difficult situation of the Seventies and Eighties, and then arriving at the new scenarios that have marked the history of the country at the turn of the new millennium.
These chapters are signed by Danilo Moriero, head of Communications and the press office of the Anci (National Association of Italian Municipalities) and a profound expert on the history of Alfa, while the person framing the various “liveried” cars is Lorenzo Ardizio, director of the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese and head of the Arese Documentation Centre.
The volume is introduced by three institutional contributions signed respectively by the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, by Salvatore Luogo, General Commander of the Carabinieri and by Santo Ficili, CEO Alfa Romeo.
