Second year with you
Editorial #9
The pleasure of the vintage car
Well yes, I also tried to have the editorial written by artificial intelligence (before they blocked ChatGPT), feeding them all the information that you will find by flipping through this issue, but nothing to do the result was disappointing and I trashed it: it was banal, impersonal, basically soulless. Maybe I’m not yet ready to accept that an evolved, intelligent machine puts itself in my shoes and replaces me. Maybe. However, the conviction that a software cannot take our place was strengthened when on April 16 in the temple of speed, the Monza National Circuit, hundreds of Alfa Romeos led by gentlemen drivers showed up to participate in the largest event in honour of the 60th anniversary of the Autodelta and the 100 of the Quadrifoglio. The heart, the passion and the manual skills in driving those cars have taken me back to a dimension that they want us to forget with the farewell to the heat engine. Of course we cannot stop the evolution of the species, but we can commit ourselves to the preservation of these mechanical jewels, yes. In our report you can admire some of them
And now let’s go back to talking about this issue of Profumo di Alfa, as you may have seen on the cover there is the 4C, a “modern” car but with a lot of track scent. With her there is no smummers, she is pure adrenaline and now she is also a collectable car. Let’s take a step back almost twenty years and here we are face to face with those who designed the interiors of the 166, the flagship of Biscione little loved by Turin, in fact, they did everything to slow down its exit. Our trip backwards ends in the early 70s, with the 2000 Sedan, the representative car that has not forgotten its sporting origins.
And much, much more in this issue of Profumo di Alfa, for a new journey along with the stories of cars where artificial intelligence has never come on board.
