The long-running series of books making up the Illustrated Encyclopedia of Motorcycles has now been extended with a title dedicated to “Italian motorcycles of the 2000s”, a decade marked exceptional innovations: three famous marques made their return to the spotlight with new models of great interest: Benelli with the Tornado and the TNT, MV Agusta with the F4 and the Brutale and Morini with the Corsaro. They were joined by Aprilia, which revolutionised its range by switching from small two-stroke engines to large four-stroke units (with the RSV and Tuono). Ducati developed its masterpiece, the 916, but did so in two stages (first with the 999, then with the 1098). In this context, Moto Guzzi stands out, adding the surprising Griso to its traditional models and opening up new stylistic horizons in the process. Italian motorcycle production in this period highlighted great personality, high performance and sophisticated engineering. These pages offer a 360° overview, as always with an eye to contemporary ways of life and with many technical insights.
