Product description
A selection of the rarest and most significant Italian cars, from the Lopresto Collection, one of the most important and well-known private collections in the world of historic cars. The volume presents twenty cars made as one-offs, prototypes or models produced in extremely limited series: authentic works of engineering and style born from the work of the great Italian designers and coachbuilders.
On these cars, technical and stylistic solutions were often very innovative, which in several cases anticipated the trends in automotive design in the following years. Through high-quality photographs and concise texts, the book tells the story and characteristics of extraordinary cars, highlighting the creativity and design capacity of Italian motoring.
The route starts from the early twentieth century with models such as the Isotta Fraschini Tipo 1902 of 1901 and the Lancia Alfa 12hp Miller of 1908, to arrive at post-war cars and of the sixties and seventies such as the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Bertone, the Lancia Flaminia Speciale Pininfarina and the Autobianchi A112 Giovani Pininfarina. What emerges is an overview that reflects not only the evolution of the automobile, but also that of Italian taste, style and creativity.
The cars in the Lopresto Collection have won over one hundred and eighty international awards, including forty “Best in Show” awards, confirming the historical and cultural value of these examples. The volume thus allows you to take a close look at some masterpieces of Italian motoring, many of which are little known even among enthusiasts.
