WITH UNPUBLISHED ILLUSTRATIONS BY CARTONIST GIORGIO SERRA aka “MATITACCIA”
The first thirty years of the Ruote Classiche Club Prato’s existence and activity provide an opportunity to retrace the events surrounding this prolific association, founded in 1996.
Author Tiziano Cherubini’s narrative device is highly original in recounting the stories and characters that have animated the Club’s activities over this long period: giving voice to several classic cars—a Triumph TR3A and an MGB GT (but not only)—which, in true “Cars” style, begin to recount facts, anecdotes, and jokes experienced firsthand, right from the book’s prologue, set in the forecourt of a gas station. The venue features some of the major events and rallies organized by the Club in its first fifteen years (such as the 100th anniversary of the Mugello Stradale or La Toscana e le su Genti), as well as figures of the caliber of Nanni Galli, Nino Vaccarella, and Mauro Forghieri, to name just a few.
All of this is enhanced by three photographic cahiers, which have truly become authentic “memory albums,” and a series of black-and-white plates by Giorgio Serra, aka “Matitaccia.”
