After the first book on the Critérium des Cévennes rally from 1954 to 1981, which covered the first 25 editions, it was logical to continue from 1982 to the 64th edition in 2023. The years 1982 to 2001 are covered in depth over eight pages, often 14 pages each, while those from 2002 to 2023 are covered over two pages per edition.

Jacques Privat, who had already written a book on the Ronde Cévenole 1967-1979 (published by the same publishing house), then devoted himself to the Critérium des Cévennes (1954-1981), always with the same meticulous attention to detail, treating each edition in succession, with comprehensive tables reporting the rankings of scratch and retirements, complete technical specifications, a large number of photos with lengthy captions, as well as a flowing text describing the forces at play, the changes to the regulations, new features, etc. and numerous “Vélo” boxes. Not to mention the numerous “Real-life” boxes on new cars, new teams, promotional formulas, etc.

The editor was responsible for choosing the iconography from the numerous photos of professionals and amateurs.
