Product description
Automobili Lancia – Vincenzo’s Formative Era 1906 – 1925 is a comprehensive book on the history of the early cars of one of the automotive industry’s leading pioneers. Wim Oude Weernink has uncovered many technical details previously unknown even to the most ardent Lancia fans, and has found and published documents and advertisements never seen before.
Although the Lancia Lambda, introduced in 1922, was a revolutionary car with a monocoque chassis, V-4 engine, and independent front suspension with shock absorbers, we all know that such a revolution doesn’t happen overnight. The period from 1907 to 1922 at Lancia was also characterized by constant innovative thinking and the refinement of existing techniques.
Some were adopted by the United States, such as the Jones speedometer and the Rushmore electric starter motor developed by Delco for Cadillac and which made its European debut in the 1913 Lancia Theta 35 HP. The latter was the heir to the Eta 20-30 HP which had already been equipped with electric lighting in 1912.
