Holmes Martin

Born 1940, trained as a lawyer but became a professional rally co-driver and then a specialist journalist in 1974.

Successes in rallying included co-driving in national British Championships in 1966 and 1971; WRC results included fourth places in Sanremo and Portugal, and was twice fifth on the RAC Rally. He also competed as co-driver with Works entries for Ford, Toyota, Renault, Skoda, Datsun, Lancia and Vauxhall. As a journalist he attended well over 500 WCR events from 1973 to date. He has one grown-up son and three granddaughters. Other written work: Sole or joint author of around forty books on rallying including World Rallying (33 editions, 1978-2010), staring with Rally Navigation in 1975. Books published in Britain, Japan, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, New Zealand World Championship Editor for weekly or monthly magazines in Czech Republic (Rally); Spain (Crono Moto); Britain (Pacenotes); India (Overdrive); Japan (Car Graphic); Portugal (Autosport).
